I Heart Betty!

JJ for Versace Spring 2011

JJ for Rolling Stones

images from Tom & Lorenzo

Versace launched their new muse for Spring 2011, and it's no other than January Jones. Finally, I get to see more glamour shots for JJ. I'm not exactly a fan of hers, but I heart Betty Draper.

Ok, not exactly Betty, but I simply adore her wardrobe! Sometimes I could go back to the 50s just to be able to wear full skirts and borderline sickeningly sweet dresses.

Anyways, I'm way overdue for the next collection. Just got swamped by custom orders. Lesson No. 1: Know when to say no. T_T

Meet Me Halfway

I've always loved the boho, carefree look of '70s maxi dresses.The only thing is, at 5'4", maxi dresses make me look stumpy. Plus, it's hard to move around in floor length frocks, amidst Manila's smoldering heat. :(

Tiered Chiffon Maxi dress in Blush, Topshop $145.00

High street labels, such as Topshop, had been churning these vintage inspired dresses but with a lofty price tag. $150 = Php7000.00 = no freaking way!

So when I found a vintage '70s dress with dainty liberty prints, I decided to chop off the sleeves, yoke, and collar. I also shirred the upper portion of the tube all the way to the back for better fit, and shortened the hem.

The Honeymooners

Truly inspiring. Love the palette and silhoutte of Lauren Moffatt's Spring 2011, aptly named The Honeymooners. Better take out my pencils and start sketching!

Lola's Wedding

My grandparents came home early this year from their 20+ years of staying at Camarillo. To tie the knot for the 2nd time. Awww ^_^ So sweet. Actually it was my aunts' who insisted on the 2nd wedding, and to make it more bongga *^*, the whole family will be dragging their butts here to Manila all the way from California (That's around 50 relatives *_* nose bleed sa gastos) haha. It's gonna be the first time for my cousins, in laws and what have yous to be here in the PI.

Anyhow, since I'm the resident designer *ehem* *feeling* *ehem*, I'll be coming up with the designs for the bride and the whole entourage. Just the designs cause sewing them all will be suicide even if it's gonna be held on 2012 (my parents and brothers are supposed to migrate there early next year so they'll come home in time for the wedding daw).

The motif is Filipiniana and the colour mood will be blue. So I'm thinking of a vintage inspired Filipiniana wedding in robin's egg blue with touches of dark chocolate brown.

Here's some photos to start the moodboard:

Lamesa Ecopark

Some photos from a barkada trip a couple of years back. Alvin and I went to Lamesa Eco Park after shift. My friends was supposed to go to Enchanted Kingdom. Unfortunately, it was closed. Good thing they called EK before going there so they came to Lamesa shortly after we arrived.

QuadRaw

Last Saturday morning, we headed for a quick trip to Sierra Madre Resort at Tanay, Rizal. After a couple of stopovers, we were in total awe as we gaze through the rolling (i mean, really, really rolling) fields and jaw dropping landscapes. We never realized we're just am hour and a half away from paradise ^_^;

Anyhow, we did a brief tour(8 hours in total but we haven't even covered the whole place) for an upcoming photoshoot with QuadRaw Concepts this October 16th.

The Perpetrator

Another blog feature! This time from the amazing Sheree of The Perpetrator. She ordered the Farrah top and loved it!

I am really, really ecstatic about the feedback I've been receiving from my customers. Just knowing that they loved the items, either the vintage or reconstructed ones really makes my day.

Fashion Ate The World

Awesome!

Here's our first blog feature from one of the Top Filipina Bloggers, and she haven't even turned twenty yet! (That made me feel uber old -_-;)

It all started last year when I started following her blog, Fashion Ate The World. I've been dabbling in fashion illustration as well, and I can say that this girl rocks! Really edgy, quirky stuff she got. She knows her style and she uses it well.

Anyways, here's the photos:

DIY Tuesday: Revamped Pumps

Sorry, was too busy creating new designs for an upcoming openshoot ^_^;

Week 2: Revamped Pumps!

Purchased this pair of pumps at a local thriftstore for Php50.00. It was originally marked at Php450.00 but the store is closing down so they had all items marked down. Will post photos of hoard soon ^_^;

The color is grayish lavender with metal trim and the most amazing embossed sole. The only ugly thing about these shoes are the metallic bows on the back. It must have been pretty but when I thrifted it, the bow was badly deformed and cheaplooking. When I tried hacking it off, the back part of the shoe where it was attached ripped a bit (the bows were glud, then sewn on) so I had no choice but to reattach something at the back to hide the rips. I decided to embellish it with dainty bows (the original ones were huge o_O) to give that sort of '50s vibe. Just like the types of shoes Summer Finn wore *_* (~droolz~)

Here's the step by step process for creating a new look with old shoes ^_~

What you need:

Old pumps/sandals/wedges/what have yous
Rags
Grosgrain ribbon ( I used a pale yellow in colour)
Needle (not necessarily an upholstery one but a medium sized one)
Thread (mine's gold)
Pins

Let's Start!

1. Clean you shoes with a damp cloth/rag. Make sure you thoroughly clean it. I even sprayed alcohol on the shoes' insides and relined them with pads.

2. Cut off around 6 inches of your ribbon/trim. If you don't have a ruler, just cut off the approximate length of a 20 peso bill.

3. Fold the ribbon into a double loop. Then pin them in place ^_^;

4. Stitch the bow in place and cover the center with an inch of ribbon.

5. Position the bow at the upper back portion of your shoes and stitch in place.

Voila! New shoes for less. It costs me just Php50 for this project since I already have the other supplies and took just about 15 minutes of my time :)
